January 18 2012 - Webster City, Hamilton County, Iowa. Client's 1st OWI Offense was amended to Public Intoxication after defendant’s motion to suppress was granted due to the officer violating defendants right to place phone calls after the arrest. License was spared.
January 17 2012 - Boone, Boone County, Iowa. Client was charged with OWI 1st Offense and driving while drugged. charge was amended to Public Intoxication after motion to suppress was granted as a result of officer not complying with urine sample collection requirements. license was spared.
January 10 2012 - Ankeny, Polk County, Iowa. 1st Offense OWI, Reckless Driving charge amended to driving left of center. Charges were dismissed and License was spared.

Attorney Matthew Thomas Lindholm has devoted his legal career to defending the rights of Iowan’s charged with drug and alcohol offenses with an emphasis on operating while intoxicated, boating while intoxicated, serious injury by vehicle, and vehicular homicide cases. Attorney Lindholm has become known for his attention to detail, meticulous preparation, and extensive knowledge of drunk driving laws. Arguments he has made at both the trial and appellate level have resulted in an expansion of rights for those charged with crimes involving intoxicated drivers. Mr. Matt Lindholm’s interest in the criminal justice system began early in his career where he attended Simpson College and majored in Criminal Justice graduating Cum Laude in 1999. After attending Simpson, Mr. Lindholm received his law degree from Drake University in 2002. While attending Drake, Mr. Lindholm’s passion for the criminal justice system was enhanced by completing an internship at the Warren County Attorney’s Office as well as through completion of the Advanced Criminal Defense Clinic. In 2004 Mr. Lindholm became a member of the National College of Drunk Driving Defense and is currently one of only eight attorneys in Iowa to be a member of this organization. In April 2005, Mr. Lindholm completed the NHTSA/IACP Standardized Field Sobriety Practitioner Training Course through Walden, Platt and Associates where he became certified to administer and score the same field sobriety tests used by police officers when making an arrest of an intoxicated driver. Attorney Matthew Thomas Lindholm continues to hone his skills in defending the rights of Iowan’s by numerous other national and local seminars related to criminal and drunk driving defense. Attorney Lindholm has also spoken at numerous seminars on issues such as field sobriety testing, breath testing, case law updates, and appellate practice. Attorney Lindholm’s practice also includes the litigation of appeals through the Iowa Court of Appeals and the Iowa Supreme Court. |
